Projects

Our experience includes new construction, renovation and expansion for hospitals, ambulatory and specialty care facilities, research and medical labs, and medical office buildings. Working in or adjacent to existing acute care facilities, we manage the entire process to represent the owner’s interests in managing scope, cost, schedule and quality. Here are a few examples from our project portfolio.

Loma Linda University Medical Center

The assignment to upgrade the interior of the radiology center presented quite a challenge. A very tight space was being equipped with two 3.0T MRI systems. They were to be installed back-to-back with a shared control room. We worked with the design team to resolve numerous design issues and as-built conditions. Among numerous design and engineering upgrades was an extensive steel shielding system to protect occupants on the floor above from magnetic fields.

Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center

Construction Management services were provided for the remodel of five surgery suites to include video integration, surgery lighting, and a backbone for DaVinci robotic surgery. The needs of the facility required work to be completed on a very tight schedule in phased steps without interrupting normal surgical operations immediately adjacent to the work area. We developed and managed a 24-hour round-the-clock schedule in order to meet the deadline. Careful management of noise, dust, infection control and interim life safety measures were critical to a successful outcome.

Glendale Adventist Medical Center

We were contracted to provide Construction Management services for a $2 million renovation of an entire medical unit. The scope of work included electrical, backbone HVAC and plumbing, lights/plugs, headwalls and restroom upgrades. Services provided included owner’s representation, design management, OSHPD coordination, constructability and quality control reviews, scheduling and budget control.

City of Hope

When a less experienced contractor ran into problems, we were called in to rescue this project to prepare and install the first CT/PET and TomoTherapy treatment systems in the Los Angeles area. There were multiple challenges, as both were located in the basement and were to be installed immediately adjacent to patient and staff areas. Our experienced understanding of the needs of a working hospital during the deployment of new technology were key to the client’s satisfaction.

Saddleback Memorial Medical Center

Hospitals are required by the State of California to meet stringent safety codes to ensure that systems critical to providing basic services are maintained after an earthquake or other disaster. Our responsibilities included managing NPC-2 Seismic Upgrades (SB 1953) throughout the hospital to ensure full code compliance, including critical fire alarm and emergency egress systems.
